Walk by Faith...š¶š¾āāļø
Hey Sis,
Last time I talked about faith and courage, this time I want to talk about faith and obedience. Do read all the way to the end, I have added something new and an event I would love to see you at.
I watched the movie āThe Trainā a while ago. This is based on the life story of Mike Bamiloye, the owner of Mount Zion movies. The movie was broken down to reflect the several chapters of his life. I am going to focus on the lessons learnt from last chapters from the movie.
1. A life of surrender
The bible tells us to submit ourselves to God and to be humble before Him that He might exalt us. (James 4:7, 10). Looking back to how Mike Bamiloye started and who he was before he met Christ, he was a mess. The moment he surrendered his life to God, God turned the worst of situations in Mike Bamiloye's life into something that is marvellous and one that will bring glory to Him always. You just need to surrender and be intentional about your relationship with Him. If you find it difficult to be consistent, set systems in place (have reminders, set appointments). Let something prompt you till you no longer need to keep routine.
2. People are important
No matter what Godās purpose is for you, you will need people to help carry the vision. You need people to believe and pray for you. Moses was not alone when God told him to save the Israelites from the Egyptians. He had his brother, Aaron who served as his mouthpiece (Exodus 4:14-17). You cannot achieve your purpose alone, you need people. As long as you obey Godās instructions, he will raise up people and resources on your behalf. This is a key reason whoever you choose to marry is God's chosen one for you. They can make or break God's vision for your life, as their support and belief in you. Even when it comes to friendships, especially your close circle, to make sure you are surrounded by people who will tell you the truth, reliable, supportive, and trustworthy and you can be vulnerable with.
3. Faith and Obedience
Faith and obedience work hand in hand, so choose faith over fear knowing God has worked it out. Isaiah 41:10 says āDo not be afraid for I am with you. Donāt be discouraged for I am your Godā. What an assurance. God is only waiting for your obedience, but you will need to take the first step and walk in faith by doing the actions He requires of you. Donāt just say you will do it, just do it.
Obedience is necessary and is something we find difficult or struggle with. I personally know that I struggle with obedience at times. We tend to question our faith and wonder if we really heard from God. Obedience is a simple step we need to take. We activate our faith by walking in obedience. The greatest men and women in the bible obeyed (Hebrews 11). Yes, they had struggles but God was with them and always came through for them.
4. Revelation over information
From the words of Mike Bamiloyeās wife, Gloria - āStop looking around for information and look to God for revelationā. Meaning we should look unto God for revelation and inspiration and when you do, God will equip you with the wisdom that you need. You need to go back to your secret place and seek the face of God, because if you are relying solely on the information from men that can lead you astray or confuse you even further. God has given you this path and he said he will lead and guide you (Psalms 32 :8), lean not on your own understanding and trust that God has got you (Proverbs 3:5-6)
