Goodbye 2024 👋🏾
Heey Sis,
As we approach the end of 2024, I would like to share some thoughts about God's incredible multifaceted nature – a thought that came to me during a quiet time of reflection. It's amazing to think about how vast and diverse God's attributes are, and how we've barely scratched the surface in understanding them all.
While many of us naturally turn to planning mode during this season – perhaps creating vision boards, setting goals, or making resolutions – I want to encourage you to approach this transition with a unique perspective. Rather than just planning according to our wisdom, let's intentionally seek God's guidance and align our aspirations with His purposes. After all, who better to consult about our future than the One who holds all time in His hands?
As you reflect on 2024, take a moment to consider the many ways God has revealed Himself in your life. You've come to know Him as El Roi (the God who sees) during a particularly lonely season, finding comfort in His attentive presence. You've experienced His love in an entirely new dimension during a challenging time or discovered His faithfulness as Jehovah-Jireh (the Provider) when resources seemed scarce. Each experience, whether joyful or difficult, has unveiled a different facet of His character.
Looking ahead to 2025, I encourage you to thoughtfully consider which aspect of God's nature you feel drawn to explore more deeply. This isn't about creating a spiritual checklist, but rather about fostering a genuine desire to know Him more intimately. Are you yearning to experience Him as Jehovah-Shalom (the Peace-giver) in your anxious moments? Or you're seeking to understand His role as the Great Shepherd (Jehovah-Rohi) as you navigate important decisions?
The beauty of God's character lies in its infinite depth and breadth. Consider these magnificent aspects of His nature:
As Love Himself - perfectly expressing goodness, grace, mercy, and compassion
As the Omnipotent One - all-powerful yet gentle
As the Omnipresent Father - always with us, everywhere
As our Shepherd (Jehovah-Rohi) - guiding and protecting
As our Healer (Jehovah-Rapha) - bringing wholeness to body and soul
As our Banner (Jehovah-Nissi) - leading us in victory
As our Peace (Jehovah-Shalom) - calming our storms
As our Rock and Fortress - providing unshakeable security
As our High Priest and Advocate - interceding on our behalf
As our Light - illuminating our path forward
As we prepare to enter 2025, I encourage you to spend time meditating on these various aspects of God's character. Consider keeping a journal to document the different ways He reveals Himself to you throughout the year. When you encounter challenges, remember that there's likely an aspect of God's character perfectly suited to meet that need.
Remember that the names and attributes we've discussed – from El Roi to Jehovah-Shammah, from Wonderful Counselor to Mighty God – aren't just ancient titles. They're living descriptions of how God wants to interact with us today. Each name reveals a promise, a potential experience, and a deeper level of relationship available to us.
As you step into the new year, may you do so with anticipation of knowing God more fully. May each day bring fresh revelations of His character, and may you find Him to be exactly what you need in every situation you face. Whether as your Rock in unstable times, your Light in dark moments, your Shepherd in times of decision, or your Peace in chaos, He stands ready to reveal Himself to you in new and profound ways.
Happy New Year in advance, and may 2025 be a year of unprecedented spiritual growth as you discover more about our infinitely fascinating God.
