Focus on one thing π―
Heey Sis,
How are you? If you are in the UK, I hope you are keeping safe and enjoying the weather.
Last year, in March, I was in New Orleans for a work conference. During my stay there, my colleagues and I visited a cafe because we wanted to try beignets, one of the things New Orleans is known for among its incredible cuisine. When we got there, we realised they only sold beignets and a limited number of beverages. The place had an endless flow of people coming in and out. To make the place even more interesting, it was cash only, and in 2023, we were all surprised that a business was still operating like this. None of us had cash, but we all wanted to try the beignets, so one of my colleagues went to look for an ATM, and thatβs how we had them. We all enjoyed the pastry. We were so glad we came.
You would think there would be a variety of pastries and treats in a coffee shop, but the cafe only sold one thing: beignets. This is why I am telling you this story.
It reminds me why focusing on one thing can be good. Sometimes, we get distracted by trying to do too many things at once in a bid to figure out what we are good at. This can lead to not sticking with anything. Knowing and understanding your strengths and weaknesses is essential. If you are anything like me, who always comes up with different ideas every 2 to 3 business days, trying to do everything can be overwhelming and unsustainable.
So why not focus on one thing and get good at it? You may never know where it will lead. As it says in Proverbs 4:25, Look straight ahead and fix your eyes on what lies before you.
Looking at this biblically, sometimes God may only give you one talent or a gift. You are responsible for recognising and knowing what that is so it can be nurtured and used to bring God honour. Refrain from despising early beginnings in instances where you cannot visualise the results you expect or are not as multifaceted as some others may be. Your one thing can change many things for you and those around you. Be a good steward towards that one thing. Please do not bury it.
Spend time in prayer asking God to show you, teach you and help you. Who else than the Creator of all things to help you understand yourself better and the things He has placed in you?
Do not hide away from the world or think it doesn't matter. It matters. God has a plan and a purpose for all of us, so you need to get going on your part, no matter what that may look like. It doesn't have to make logical sense. Faith isn't logical unless it won't be faith.
We are having a Luncheon at the end of this month. Time with amazing speakers, great good and fun company. It will be a beautiful time together, and it would be great to see you Sis.
