How to expressively love God with the five love languages
Heey Sis,
It was over a week ago that Reset happened, all I can say is thank you, Jesus, it was truly a time of refreshing in His Presence. God showed up and I pray for everyone who attended for grace to keep seeking and keeping your eyes on Jesus. People are asking when the next one will be, the answer is if God says there will be another one then that will be announced.
Now unto today’s Love Language - Physical Touch. I hope this series has been a blessing to you as it has to me. Two more love languages to go.
“A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding, and she could find no cure. Coming up behind Jesus, she touched the fringe of his robe. Immediately, the bleeding stopped. “Who touched me?” Jesus asked. Everyone denied it, and Peter said, “Master, this whole crowd is pressing up against you.” But Jesus said, “Someone deliberately touched me, for I felt healing power (perceived power) go out from me.”

The physical touch love language emphasizes expressing and receiving love through physical gestures such as hugging and holding hands. In the case of our relationship with God, this could seem unrealistic as we serve a God who is invisible yet filled with loving kindness and mercy.
Sometimes our worship of God can feel abstract and out of touch, and it may seem as though if only we could be face to face with Jesus in the physical like the disciples, then that might change us or our perception of Him. I want to dare us to believe that we can touch Jesus and be touched by Jesus by how we present our faith and worship to Him. We must understand that we are not just merely physical beings, but we also compromise of a spiritual component. This must then inform how we perceive and receive God. God is Spirit and if we are to worship Him correctly, we must do so in Spirit and truth (John 4:24). As much as our physical body can be touched by Jesus, so can our Spirit man which can lead to an inside-out transformation.
From the text concerning the woman with the issue of blood - we see that Jesus was in a crowd of people who were pressing against Him. But when this woman touched Him, He paused in His tracks and asked, "Who touched me?" (v 45). Peter most likely confused and responded with Master; the crowd is pressing up against you (v45). But Jesus' response was profound in that he mentions that "someone deliberately touched me, for I felt healing power (perceived power) go out from me(v46)". The woman eventually owns up to touching Jesus and His response to her is "Your faith has made you well. Go in peace" (v 48)
We find that although many were close in proximity to Jesus, none of them were able to touch Jesus in the way this woman did. They perhaps did not understand who Jesus was and how much life-giving power He carried. Or maybe they did not have knowledge of how they could access such power from Him. This woman however was an exception as she carried some level of faith that by touching Jesus, life-giving power would be released for her healing. In Matthew 17:20 - 21, Jesus tells us that the size of faith we need is that of a mustard seed and nothing will be impossible for us. A mustard seed is a very tiny seed and usually around 1 to 2 millimetres in size. The point is a little amount of faith is required of us to completely please God (Hebrews 11:6).
The beautiful thing about this text is that she not only left Jesus' presence with healing but with peace. Peace that is not of this world, but the kind of peace that surpasses all human understanding (John 14:27). I also want to believe that this was her moment of complete transformation and restoration.
If we are to touch Jesus to a place of compassion and action, our worship of Him must come with an understanding that He has life-giving power and that He requires of us a mustard seed kind of faith. The same principle applies if we are to be touched by Jesus - “A man who was covered with leprosy saw Jesus and fell with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. Jesus said, “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him (Luke 5: 12 - 16).
It is a thing of beauty to know that by God becoming flesh and blood in the person of Jesus, the gap between heaven and humankind was bridged. Jesus not only became someone who we can touch but one who also reaches out to touch us in response to our faith.
