The Five Love Languages of God: Gifts π
How to expressively love God with the five love languages
Heey Sis,
How are you? Hope you have had a great month? Just like that we are coming to the end of the second month in 2024. This means we are at the end of the Love Languages series. Letβs get into it.
People that have the gifts love language feel most loved when they have been given a gift that has a special meaning to them. The gifts offered do not have to be expensive or flashy and do not necessarily have to be materialistic. Gifts offered should be well thought through and make the individual feel seen and cherished. To give a gift with meaning and thought behind it requires attention and empathy. This gift in turn then becomes a symbol of sentiment increasing its value.
There are many scriptures in the bible that urge us to be generous and cheerful givers. The Bible also teaches that the more we give, the more we receive or reap (2 Corinthians 9:6-7). Thus, as believers, we should not be strangers to the concept of gifting/ giving.
A lot of times giving / gifting is connected to monetary value. While this has a place in building the Christian community, there are other ways by which we can gift. One must not forget that every good and perfect gift comes from God (James 1:17). God wants to give us every good thing and we must be eager to honour God in the gifts that He has placed in us. 1 Timothy 6:18-19 says that we are to be rich in good works and ready to share with others. Good works is a form of gift giving and this is a reminder that not all gifts are tangible. Time, presence, and love could be the gift someone is looking for.
Romans 12:6 tells us that God has given us certain gifts for doing certain things well. If you are good at singing, sing to the glory of God, if you are a great communicator - reach out to charitable organisations - visit a care home. Whatever you are good at, use it to reach out to people to whom it might hold a sentimental value.
Outside of money, let us consider how we can use the several talents and gifts God has blessed us with, to not only bless believers, but also unbelievers.
Hope you have enjoyed the series, and it has been valuable to you? I do hope it has helped you to love God more expressively and intently.
